Shipments from the U.S. get better treatment
Under CUSMA, a parcel shipped from the United States or Mexico by private courier is tax-free up to CA$40 and duty-free up to CA$150. This does not apply to postal shipments or to other countries.
Clearance fees are extra
Canada Post charges about $9.95 in handling on a taxable parcel. Private couriers apply their own brokerage fees, often higher — check before you order.
